If you have multiple businesses or clients on Ambrook, you can switch into their books seamlessly. There's no new email or login needed!
Account switching is off by default. You must contact the support team via the support chat, or at support@ambrook.com, to have it enabled before the switcher will appear in your account. Once we've toggled it on, the dropdown typically appears within 5 minutes.
Then, to do the actual switching, you can go to one of two places in the app:
1. Settings
In the web app, you can click the box around your organization's name, and a dropdown will appear if you have other accounts. Then, you can click on the account you'd like to switch into, and you'll be in their account.
On the mobile app, click on the arrows under your name to switch.
2. Menu (web app only)
If you're on ambrook.com, you can click on the left-hand menu and go to the very bottom where it shows your organization name. Click here, and it will also pull up the organization switcher for you to switch into someone else's account.
Remember that you may have different permissions on different accounts. Click here for information on roles and permissions.
Managing multiple organizations
If you run separate businesses or LLCs, each one can have its own Ambrook account — and account switching lets you move between them without logging out. For full guidance on setting up and managing multiple entities see Managing Multiple Businesses in Ambrook: Entities vs. Enterprise Tags.
If you're an accountant, bookkeeper, or advisor who has been invited to manage accounts for multiple clients, the org switcher works the same way — no separate login needed for each client.
To access a client's account, your client must first invite you to their organization. Once invited and accepted, their organization will appear in your switcher dropdown alongside any others you have access to. Learn more in our Accountant Access to Ambrook article.
Sharing across organizations
What is shared: your user profile, your login credentials, your notification preferences.
What is not shared: transactions, contacts, items, settings, integrations, subscriptions, and billing. Each organization is fully independent on the books side.
Subscriptions: each organization has its own subscription and is billed separately.
Troubleshooting
If you log in and land on a blank or unfamiliar page, you may have signed in with a different email address than the one tied to your Ambrook account. This can happen if you previously signed up for another Ambrook product using a different email, or if the email address you entered has a typo.
Go to Settings, scroll down, and select Log out.
Log back in using the email address you used when originally setting up your Ambrook account.
If you're still unsure which email is correct, contact our team and we can look it up for you.
If the switcher is not appearing even after your account has been enabled, confirm you are logged in with the correct email — each email address has its own access permissions and switching must be enabled separately per email.
