One of Ambrook’s goals is to connect digitally to all of your financial transactions so that we can reduce the time you spent bookkeeping by hand, however there are always going to be situations where we can’t do that and transactions settled with Cash are one of them. Therefore Ambrook makes it easy to manually manage your Cash on Hand.

Self-Paced Virtual Walkthrough

If you’re a visual learner, this self-paced video tour will walk you all the way through the Cash Transaction creation process. Click on each prompt to go to the next step.

Setting your starting Balance

When you are getting started on Ambrook, and before you start entering Cash Transactions of any other kind, it's good practice to start by telling Ambrook how much Cash you are starting with, so that when the later transactions are entered, Ambrook can keep your Cash on Hand account in sync with reality.

To do so, click the “+ Add” button in the top right corner of the Ledger and then select “Cash Transaction” from the “Add Ledger Entry” menu.

You will be taken to the “Cash Transaction” screen. Here, set the Description as “Beginning Cash Balance”, set the Type to “Income” and enter the cash balance you are starting from. Modify the date if necessary.

Click “Done” and then navigate to your Balances page to see that your Cash on Hand account reflects that beginning balance.

Entering a Cash Transaction

Once your beginning balance is set, simply enter Cash transactions as they occur. They will appear on your ledger and you can tag them just like any other transaction.

To do so, click the “+ Add” button in the top right corner of the Ledger and then select “Cash Transaction” from the “Add Ledger Entry” menu.

You will be taken to the “Cash Transaction” screen. Fill out the fields for the cash transaction, and click done.

Once added, Cash transactions appear in your ledger like any other transactions and therefore can be tagged, be broken into line items, and have receipts attached.

Deleting a Cash Transaction

If you ever need to delete a Cash transaction due to an entry error, simply click on it from the ledger and scroll down to the bottom of the detail page until you find the “Delete Transaction” button.

Don’t worry about accidentally clicking that “Delete Transaction” button. After you click it once, we ask you to confirm the deletion.
