Understanding the profitability of your business at the location level can give you valuable insight into your operation, but can also be tedious and too much overhead to reasonably manage.

Ambrook’s location tags allow you to track the income and expenses associated with a location right from the Ledger, with the option to split allocation across locations by acre, labor hour, or any other metrics that might drive your costs.

Location tags are flexible to whatever locations you want to create. Examples could include:

  • Fields

  • Pastures

  • Construction or job sites

  • Stores or offices

  • Rental or real estate properties

Setting up your locations

You can create and manage your locations by going to Settings -> Locations. Add a new location using the Add button, which will allow you to name the location. Locations can be nested under a “Parent Location”, but a Parent Location is not required.

Splitting & Analyzing with Metrics

You can record units and quantities associated with different locations, such as the number of acres or yield on each field, the number of staff members that work at each store, or any other unit you associate with the profitability of your location tags. Adding a metric to a location will allow you to see the profitability of that location by each unit as well as be able to split transactions on the Ledger by percentage based on the unit that drove that particular income or expense.

Add a metric by clicking the pencil next to a location and clicking New Metric. Learn more about using metrics here.

With Locations, you can:

  • Split utility costs across locations based on acreage

  • Compare the profit per square foot at different facilities

  • Find breakeven price for custom work per hour

Advanced Options

Each location tag, like other tags in Ambrook, can be divided into sub-locations to represent rows within a field, rooms within a facility, etc, depending on what level of granularity is helpful for you and your team to analyze.

Locations can store some unique details versus other tag types. For example, add an address or GPS coordinates to generate a map thumbnail for easy reference. These can all be found in the location details panel.

In the works: boundary maps and profitability heatmaps. Want to share input?
